The patrol division of the Preble County Sheriff's Office consists of 11 deputies, and 3 detectives, under the supervision Chief Deputy Terry Snowden and Captains Mike Spitler and Joe Renner. Patrol deputies are responsible for answering calls for service, traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, civil process and warrant service, and assisting in jail or dispatch operations when necessary.

Deputies are primarily responsible for law enforcement services in the unincorporated areas of the county, as well as several of the villages who either have no law enforcement of their own, or may only have part time officers.
